BLOG TOUR & REVIEW — Bulletproof Butterfly By Anna Brooks

 Title: Bulletproof Butterfly
Author: Anna Brooks
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: November 16, 2017

I wasn’t a rookie, but I made a mistake because I was selfish, impulsive, and headstrong.

 I was also in love.

My desire for her overwhelmed me. Consumed me. Distracted me.

To protect her, I stood motionless as my partner pried her from the security of my arms. I watched as she fought his hold. I even listened when she screamed that she hated me.

For years I’ve been patient, I’ve been smart, and I’ve gone by the book. But now… it’s finally over.

It’s time to get my girl back.

When I show up to reclaim what’s mine, I discover she’s not ready to forgive me quite yet… but that’s okay, because I have no problem reminding her just how good it used to be, even if I have to show her over and over again.

What I do have a problem with is the guy who’s been trying to take my place. Because here’s the thing, I’ve waited too long to have her in my arms again to have anybody stand in my way… and I’m done following the rules.

Anna began writing when she thought the world would want to hear her sick lyrics through song. Since then, she’s realized her childhood dream wasn’t so far-fetched, just misguided. Now she writes romance with real emotions and happy endings. If Anna isn’t writing or reading, she can be found by a space heater painting her nails and drinking a ridiculous amount of Diet Dr Pepper. She also likes to hang out with her husband and two boys. If it wasn’t for them, she wouldn’t ever leave the house. Anna was born in Wisconsin but now lives in the Evergreen State

descriptiondescriptiondescriptionI enjoyed this one but it did, unfortunately, have some issues that affected my rating in a negative way. First I will say that I enjoy this author’s writing. She has a very readable way to her writing that makes for an enjoyable experience. The pace was ok, but a bit too slow at times and the book was a bit too long. The plot was engaging (for the most part) and kept me turning the pages. There wasn’t any OW drama, but there was OM drama and cheating on the part of the heroine. That said, it will depend on what you consider cheating. They were separated at the time, but the separation wasn’t a breakup, so that is why “I” considered it cheating. And I’ll admit I wasn’t a fan that the author went there. It took away from this supposed “epic” love and that in combination with finding the heroine a little self-centered and whiney made me kind of wish the hero would have dumped her and found someone better. The sex scenes were hot and fairly plentiful and the secondary characters were interesting.
descriptionI ADORED the hero. He reminded me of a KA hero. Alpha. Sexy. All in from the start. FAITHFUL for the entire three years they are apart. My heart broke for this guy and everything he had to do. The heroine…sigh. Until the incident that separates them for three years, I liked her. She seemed sweet and big-hearted. Loved her family. Loved Jay. That said, the way she acted about the separation, blaming Jay and her actions during the separation and even once they were back together. Well, I just lost all respect I had felt for her. She didn’t stop for even a second to consider anyone but herself and acted like a three-year-old throwing a temper tantrum. Ugh, I wanted to smack her so hard.
descriptionThe last issue I had with this one, and it is more of a personal pet peeve issue than a book issue. Right at the start of the book, we are in present time. Shortly after that we go back three years into the past and stay there for 53% of the book. Which for me was a bit too long as I was more interested in getting back to the present day part of the story. I am just not a fan of this type of thing unless the past portion is reasonably short or we flip back and forth often from past to present. And although I realize the author had to lay some groundwork for the couple I felt like it was dragged out a bit too much and would have preferred more of the book dedicated to them in the now.

So a bit of a mixed bag with this one. As I said, I enjoyed it but it wasn’t without issues, and those issues were big enough to keep me from rating this any higher than 3 Stars. Nevertheless, I am still a fan of this author’s writing, so I am onboard to see what she has up her sleeve next.description

SIDE NOTE: I know people will want to know what the cheating entailed in this one so feel free to drop me a line, and I will give you the details.
