So this was a sweet book. I enjoyed it. This author’s writing is always fantastic, and this book was no different. That said, I found it slow moving and about halfway through I lost interest. Nothing much was happening and unfortunately, nothing really ever did happen. The plot just wasn’t very engaging for me. Last, it was all wrapped up in a sweet ending.
BULLET… I liked him. I have nothing bad to say about him. He didn’t seem to be a manwhore. That said, I could have done without the whole discussion on his posse of women he kept around for sex. But he was a sweet tortured and tattooed dirty talking alpha that loved his family. He was interested in Finlay from the moment he meets her. Although the cheesy pickup line was a bit douchey but all in all he was a decent hero.
FINLAY… I liked her character a lot as well. She was sweet and feisty. Wore her heart on her sleeve. Loved her family. She took a TINY bit of time to warm up to Bullet, but she was pretty much all in with him from early on as well. On a side note regarding her character, I wish authors would stop with the whole “heroine has little sexual experience, and it wasn’t great.” As was the case here with Finlay.

There were quite a few secondary characters in this one. Couples from the previous books. Bullet’s brothers and sister. Finlay’s sister and a friend. And a woman who it appears will be Bone’s heroine in the next book. All of them added some good depth to the story.
Low. This was a super slow burn book (IMO). This couple doesn’t get to do the deed until 60% in. Then we only get a few fairly hot sex scenes after that. Bullet and Finlay had OK sexual chemistry and I think that was one reason I struggled to stay interested. I don’t know, they lacked spark for me.
None. Seriously, this book was pretty much unicorns prancing through the tulips while farting rainbows. Oh sure Bullet had some issues, but they never caused more than a slight lick of drama. There was also no OW or OM drama.
~IN THE END~
So yea, it was OK. Everything was a bit too perfect and sweet for me. I think my tastes have changed a lot recently and I need a little more “bite” to my stories. I need some angst. I need some adversity. I need some grit. Especially (as was the case here) when a book is fairly long. That’s just me though and I am certain this one will appeal to the many readers who love a simple no drama romance. Yours truly is giving this one a solid thumbs up.
