Stephen Hastings is a control freak.
He’s arrogant. He’s smart as a whip and sexy AF.
He has too much money. He’s bossy, and he’s usually right.
All I saw were his clear blue eyes, tight ass, and ripped torso.
I gladly handed him my V-card that night, ten years ago.
I was so stupid. I swore I’d never be that stupid again…
Yes, that Emmy Barton—long, blonde hair, bright blue eyes, pretty smile…
Sexy little ass. Smart mouth.
She was the only girl who interested me, but I was leaving to be an officer in
her, divorced and struggling to make ends meet.
I hate seeing her like this. I hate that she married Burt “The Dick” Dickerson.
What an asshole.
I won’t leave her this way.
She will let me help her and her son. She will stay…
It’s a thin line between love and hate, and this line is on fire.

It was close to being a 5-Star read for me. What kept it from being perfect (for me) was Stephen himself. Honestly, I am a grudge holding b!tch and I never got past the way he treated her ten years previously. And I never felt like he groveled enough. The fact that he couldn’t even figure out why she was pissed off at him was mindboggling to me. Yes, he had #reasons, though none of them were connected to her specifically. He also didn’t appear to have given her or the incident much thought since he had been out of the Navy for six years and didn’t bother to look her up once. So yea, probably a nitpicky thing to get hung up on since for most of the book he is a sweet hero. However…THIS reader found herself less than 100% enamored by him. (lol) Also, Emmy jumped right back into his arms WAY too quickly for my liking. Aside from that little niggle the rest of this book was a delight to read. Especially Eli. He was adorable and certainly a huge highlight of this book. Two thumbs up from yours truly.
Hi there! I’m a mom and wife by day (and night), aspiring writer (in my dreams), and an avid reader (every day of the week). This is my little corner of the web to post about ALL things books. I live in Copenhagen, but I am a Canadian girl (born and raised) at heart.
